Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a range of tasks related to the installation, servicing, and repair of electronic equipment, both in-house and on-site at customer locations. The role offers a variety of tasks that range in scope and complexity, providing a great opportunity for both individual and team-based work. This position reports to the Field Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic controls and systems.
- Customer Support: Communicate with customers regarding service needs for Marlin products in OEM plants and provide effective field support.
- Technical Guidance: Offer guidance to production personnel to resolve technical issues and maintain operational efficiency.
- Documentation: Write detailed service reports based on field findings and clearly document issues and resolutions.
- Engineering Support: Interpret technical documents, such as schematics and engineering drawings, to understand product issues and propose solutions.
- Field Work: Diagnose and repair equipment in the field, including handling product returns and troubleshooting issues directly on customer premises.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the field service team to develop and implement improved project or program management processes.
- Emergency Response: Will be required to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed.
- RMA Processing: Utilize business software systems to process RMAs submitted by customers.
- Problem-Solving: Conduct root cause analysis using tools like "8D" or similar processes for troubleshooting, resolution, and reporting.
Requirements:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or an associate degree/technical certificate in electrical/electro-mechanical engineering or a related field. Alternatively, 4+ years of hands-on experience in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience with electronic systems, machinery controls, or electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting machine controls, electronic circuits, motors, hydraulics, and embedded software.
- Ability to interpret schematics, oscilloscopes, and related engineering documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to conceptualize and implement solutions independently.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for customer site visits.
