Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic controls.
- Provide technical guidance to production personnel to address and resolve issues.
- Interpret and utilize technical engineering documents, such as schematics, outline drawings, and test plans. Familiarity with embedded software is preferred.
- Diagnose and repair equipment both in the field and for returned products.
- Prepare detailed service reports based on findings from fieldwork.
- Frequently communicate with customers to address the service needs of the client’s product applications in OEM plants and provide field support.
- Maintain effective and professional communication with customers and third-party vendors to understand field issues, identify contributing factors, and deliver solutions while promoting the value of the client’s products and services.
- Collaborate closely with the field service team to develop and implement processes that enhance the management of projects or programs.
- Be available to respond to after-hours emergency calls as directed by the supervisor.
- Use business software systems to process RMAs submitted by customers.
- Demonstrate the ability to work directly with customers at their facilities, documenting issues for resolution as needed.
- Apply problem-solving methodologies such as “8D” or similar processes for issue research, resolution, and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with at least 1 year of related work experience, OR completion of an associate degree or technical certificate program in electrical or electro-mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
- Comfortable independently evaluating, diagnosing, and troubleshooting field failures using various tools and methods, often conceptualizing and implementing novel solutions.
- Possess a working knowledge of machine controls and operations, including the interrelationships of electronic circuits, motors, hydraulics, oscilloscopes, schematics, and embedded software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, financial reports, legal documents, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Capable of writing reports and professional correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management or other employees within the organization.
