The Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of structured cabling systems for communication networks. The role involves planning, designing, and coordinating the installation of data, voice, and video cabling infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The RCDD will work closely with clients, engineers, and construction teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning: Develop detailed designs and plans for communication distribution systems, including data, voice, and video cabling. Ensure designs meet industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure timely and successful implementation of cabling systems. Provide guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical Expertise: Utilize industry best practices and standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI) to design robust and scalable communication systems. Address technical challenges and provide solutions to complex design issues.
Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their requirements and objectives. Provide recommendations and insights to help them achieve their communication infrastructure goals.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for design plans, project specifications, and installation procedures. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all records.
Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality and performance of installed systems. Ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
Training and Support: Provide training and support to clients and internal teams on the operation and maintenance of communication systems. Address any issues or concerns that arise.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Recommend and implement improvements to design processes and standards.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred.
Certification: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is required. Additional certifications (e.g., BICSI Installer, RIT) are a plus.

Experience:  

Designing and managing structured cabling systems.
Project management and client interaction is highly desirable.

Skills:

Strong understanding of cabling standards and best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio) and tools used for network design and analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in various environments, including office and construction sites.
May require occasional lifting and carrying of equipment or materials.

Work Environment:
Office setting, fieldwork, travel requirements.
