We are seeking a dedicated Marine Field Technician to join our team, focusing on a wide range of marine applications. If you're an experienced professional with a passion for keeping the world moving forward, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to assess unit conditions and identify deficiencies.
  • Perform engine overhauls and other necessary repairs following diagnostic evaluations.
  • Ensure optimal performance through sea trials, making adjustments as required.
  • Manage costs by utilizing warranty options and evaluating service and parts alternatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of engine and vessel service and repairs.
  • Uphold a safe and organized work environment.
  • Take ownership of tasks, accommodating new and different requests to add value.
  • Perform MTU engine commissioning trials.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on-site.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to apprentice marine technicians.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in laptop/PC operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues and follow service manuals and work orders.
  • Expertise with electrical multi-meters and diesel engine electronic controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical support, sales, and management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical schooling is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience, with a focus on marine large bore diesel engines preferred.
  • Extensive experience with MTU engines.
  • Familiarity with MTU MCS/RCS electronics.
  • Experience with Diasys software is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel frequently within an assigned territory, including potential international travel.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and ability to be insured.
  • Own set of mechanic tools.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is a plus.
  • Completion of company-provided manufacturer training, both online and in-person.

Compensation:

  • $34.00 to $47.00 per hour, based on skills and experience.
  • An additional $1.50 per hour when working in the field.
  • Up to 50% travel expected.
