Join our team as a Field Service Technician, where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing marine engines and backup power generation equipment. We are committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring the operational stability of critical sectors, including military, defense, first responders, and global supply chains.

Compensation: $34 to $56 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections of generators, including diagnostic tests to determine condition.
  • Identify and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct load bank tests and calculate KW for accurate testing.
  • Execute tune-ups and repairs based on diagnostic findings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC controls, engine controllers, AVR, battery chargers, block heaters, ATS, and switchgear.
  • Repair diesel and gaseous engines as well as perform up-fit modifications on new power generation equipment.
  • Load test batteries and repair charging systems as needed.
  • Verify generator performance through tests and adjust controls and systems.
  • Maintain precise records of service and repairs.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment, including proper upkeep of company tools and equipment.

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of various generators, diesel, and gaseous engines, including controls and systems.
  • Proficient in AC electrical systems (110-600 VAC) and DC electrical systems.
  • Experience diagnosing transfer switches and understanding mechanical & electronic governors.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and use PC-based diagnostic software.
  • Strong safety practices and ability to work around electrical components.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with effective communication to customers, contractors, and site managers.
  • Maintain knowledge through ongoing education and technical publications.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, email, typing).

Experience/Education:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and/or training in the power generation field.
  • Associate's Degree (AA) from a college or technical school is preferred but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Own and maintain a tool inventory suitable for the position.
  • Valid driver's license with insurability under the employer's policy.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends.
  • Work towards obtaining an electrical license for technicians.
